Vives Q - 2018 with Eisha Love and Jennicet Guiterrez at the National Museum of Mexican Art - August 7, 2018

August 7, 2018 - The premise of Vives Q, the 4-year old program, is to create an intergenerational dialogue between the guest speakers – LGBTQ Trailblazers. This year’s event started off with FLUX’s “I Am” video intro and then focused on two transwomen speakers: Eisha Love, who spoke about her experience being incarcerated in the Cook County Correctional system, what led to her being sentenced, and the community movement that was being moved by her telling her story to Windy City Times which ended up being the catalyst to help her get an early release from her jail sentence, the second speaker was trans-activist Jennicet Gutierrez who spoke about her journey of accepting her truth as a trans woman of color as well as her infamous disruption at the White House when former President Obama was hosting an event to honor Pride Month. During the event, CALOR also provided HIV testing.
