BEYOND THE TIPPING POINT: The Trans community thrives at FLUX

November is Transgender Awareness Month

LOS ANGELES (November 01, 2017) FLUX is a division of AHF and a national affinity network that is dedicated to raising awareness and increasing visibility for Trans and gender non-conforming individuals.

FLUX will join Transgender Awareness Month celebrations by launching its multifaceted website designed for and by the Trans community. The website features:

  • Resources and educational materials for allies and media
  • Gallery of our community partners featured on our nationwide billboard and ad campaign
  • Three mini documentaries highlighting: Model and Advocate, Laith Ashley; Blogger and TV personality, Billie Lee; HIV Advocate and Speaker, Jazielle Noelle Triplett

Transgender Awareness Month takes place during the month of November and is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the transgender community. Throughout the month, several organizations and Southland cities will host events across the Los Angeles area.

The importance of Transgender Awareness Month is not being taken for granted by FLUX leadership. “We need to tell our own stories.  We can create media content.  We are capable, we are strong and we are valuable…. We will make it happen, we always have,” says Queen Victoria Ortega, Chair of FLUX.

November is a busy month for the Trans community. This is a month to celebrate accomplishments and remember those lost to violence.  We encourage people to explore the website, view the mini documentaries and stay up-to-date with all the events being planned. Queen Victoria underscores, “We need our allies and family to celebrate and celebrate us now, while we are living.”
